Advanced Sailors can check out dinghies (Paddleboard, Zests, Vision, Quests) any time except Open Sailing and Skill Building through Racing.
The RS Venture can be checked out if the sailor is signed off.
Keelboat Skippers can additionally check out keelboats (J80, Ranger 24, Catalina 27), if signed off, for day sailing at any time.
It’s a requirement to check-out using the Day Sail Float Plan Form, or alternatively emailing your float plan to dockmasters@rentonsailing.org (see email content below).
After you submit the completed form an email will be sent to both you and the dockmasters.
Upon return you should reply-all to this email indicating that you are back on the dock and have checked-in the boat.
Keelboat Skippers can also check out keelboats for overnight trips after creating a detailed float plan and having it approved by the RSC board.
If emailing, Float Plans must include:
- Skipper’s name
- Date of sail
- Estimated time of departure from RSC
- Estimated time of return to RSC
- What is your destination or itinerary? (If you will stay within sight of RSC, South of Merch Island, you can write ‘Local’)
- Which boat are you taking?
- Do you have a Radio? If so, what channel will you monitor? (Typically ‘Ch 9/16/68’)
- What is the best phone number to reach you while you’re sailing?
- Total number of people on board the boat, including yourself
- Confirm that you have checked the weather forecast and affirm that your skill level, crew, and itinerary are safe and appropriate for the conditions
- Any other details or notes?
- Notable weather forecast details
- Crewmember names
- Backup phone #
- Skills you’re working on
